Automated information mining is extracting hidden information from large databases for predictive analysis. In simple words, data mining is to retrieve crucial data from large amounts of information, then broken down and analyzed in order to make a specific assessment. In the business world, researchers, marketers and analyzers grasp the concept of valuable data mining, but know that several challenges exist when it comes to leveraging this knowledge in a more proactive and intelligent form to customers.

Information mining covers a wide range of areas in internet marketing data research including data collection or extraction. Data collection is collecting data based on the requirements of the client from various websites manually or through an automated process. The next step would be to collect names, addresses, telephone numbers, company information and website details for advertisements and campaigns. Data collection also includes collecting product details such as product description, cost of product, quantity and image of product and feeding this information to online portals or content management systems.

Statistical techniques and mathematical algorithms are required in data mining to integrate with software tools. Market research, direct marketing, consumer behavior, genetics, bioinformatics, fraud detection, text analysis, ecommerce, website personalization, financial services and customer relationship management all use data mining in some form or another.
